During sciecles passed, the Olonnois corsairs left to cross the blade from the sphere. Today, the fine swashbucklers of the whole world return the similar one to us while taking part in the Championships of France and the artistic World of fencing.

I welcome all these amateurs of tradition of cape and sword, which will find in the Vendée, and with Sands of Olonne in particular, a population sensitive to his histoite. The Regional Academy of Old Fencing of Theatre and Spectacle C.R.E.A.T.S gives the opportunity of us regularly to us replonger in alive scenes, testimonys of last but with all the force of the action lived at the present.

That the menbres of this association, and particularly Michel Palvadeau and Laurent Tixier, are thanked for having requested the organization into 2004 for these championships. Sanded and inhabitants of Olonne will be able to discover the diversity of the talents of the sportsmen and artisites which pratiqueent this discipline. The participants as for them will appreciate the tradition of reception which lives us, illustrated by equipment such as the Center of Congress of the Telamones which will lodge this demonstration.

The artistic fencing is known general public thanks to the scene and with the screen, large or small. The cascades of Fanfan the tulip or the Girl of Artagnan do not have secrecies for him.

But do these amateurs of capes and sword know that it is before a whole high level, difficult and demanding sport of morals qualities and exceptional physics, practised by true athletes knowing to combine force and flexibilities, elegance and effectiveness

The Vendée- who counts many bachelors in this discipline- has the honor and the joy of accomodating at the same time two important demonstrations of aesthetic fencing: the championship of France you it championship of the world. It is the unique opportunity to see to clash the best international blades of the speciality.

The organizers, Laurent Tixier and Michel Palvadeau, deserve our compliments to have succeeded in organizing under best the conditions a double competition as prestigious as spectacular.

The Vendean ones, which likes the plume and elegance, will not spare their applause to greet the most beautiful "boots" of this exceptional event.

It's now official, the French Championships of artistique fencing and the second edition of the world championship voile take place in Les Sables d?Olonne the 20th-21st and 22nd may 2004?

In november 2004, the Vend e Globe famous sailing race around the world alone will leave Les Sables d?Olonne. This major event will drain, as early as September, as considerable number of visitors that will need food and board. Paste experience has proved that lodging a large quantity of people is a particularly difficult problem. Herer the choice of may.

The reason for choosing this date is that three days is little for such a major event. Thursday 20 th is a tank holiday in France, most business will probably be closed on Friday, people should be able to free themselves.
This precision given, we wish to thank those who have accepted to invest themselves in the organisation of this championship : these are of course, longtime friends Corsaires olonnois, bretteurs inv��es and joyful companious of the "Conservatoire R�ional d'escrime ancienne des Sables d'Olonne" delighted at the idea receiving these competitions in their home town and who have worked hard in order to ensure a perfect organisation of everything. Equally the local personalities : La ville des Sables d'Olonne, Du Conseil G��al de la Vend�, Du Conseil R�ional des Pays de la Loire Et quelques partenaires priv�

   Who have offered us their services where needed.We also thank the masters of arms of the A.A.F in particular Claude Carliez and Michel Olivier who have greatly helped us in the elaboration of this dossier.

   Also the Rennaissance musical formation "la Compagnie Outre Mesure" with we are very pleased to be associated. They will animate the evening galas.

   And lastly but not least, Laurent Texier, a rare personality, cultivated, generous and enthusiastic but above all shaving his passion between fencing, music and history, the starting point of these major events. His co-ordination from the beginning to the end has been remarkable.

We hope to make these three days unforgettable moments of a lifetime.
